Phytophthora Disease: A Major Threat to Durian Plantations
Revitalizing Post-Death Restoration
Durian, renowned as the king of fruits for its exceptional taste and nutritional value in tropical regions, faces significant challenges due to pesticide overuse. This has disrupted the ecosystem and led to an increase in diseases, particularly during the rainy season. Phytophthora disease, in particular, severely damages the durian tree’s water and nutrient transport system, often resulting in the tree being cut down.

Issue:
At Refreshing Springs Resort, 300 D24 durian trees are currently afflicted by Phytophthora disease. Approximately 100 trees have already perished, and the remaining trees have not produced fruit or blossoms for the past two years.

In November 2015, we developed a specialized durian treatment program in collaboration with Earth Foods.

Trial Results
By January 2016, the trees had gradually recovered from Phytophthora disease and began producing a bountiful harvest. Additionally, the use of Earth Foods Soil Revitalizer enhanced the quality of the durian fruits, resulting in a distinctively delicate and creamy taste.
